About Me

Hello Hello!

I'm Shipra, a counseling psychologist. I've been in the field of mental health advocacy and training since I was 18 and I've been seeing clients individually for therapy for 2 years. Beyond my practice, I'm also the director of an NGO called Plane Jar Welfare Foundation. This organization primarily focuses on supporting survivors of abuse and others who require the right blend of mental health and legal assistance. Through my work here, I was able to interact and assist survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and neglect. I was also able to assist individuals who have been suicidal or have faced other mental health concerns. My work allowed to interact and understand different communities which shaped my approach to be more inclusive and intersectional (and I'm still learning everyday.)

I have also been a trainer for several topics such as trauma, suicide, self-care, gender sensitization, abuse and many more topics regarding mental health.

Apart from all this, I love sunsets, the beach and the warmest cup of adrak chai to get me by my day!

My Approach

My approach is very eclectic in nature. I like to incorporate different techniques from different schools of thought depending on whats the comfortable process for you! My approach is all about putting you at the center of our session planning. We'll work together to figure out exactly what you need, and then take it from there in a way that feels comfortable and natural for you.

I also like to use a trauma informed approach which means i like to understand how our body plays a role in our emotions. Sometimes, when our mind can't take too much, we prefer to push things down the deep end, and so, our body does the remembering for us. I like to help you discover how our body holds a lot of feelings. I like to work with the body and the mind as a whole where we can understand and connect with our bodies in a whole manner. I draw techniques from somatic therapy, part work, inner child modalities and body based approaches.
